Websites are categorized according to the following descriptions.
behind the scenes
Having nothing to do with the overall design of the site, my task was to update the CSS, Javascript, site text, database, or the HTML.
education
Depending on the school requirements, this type of project can include a restricted development, server environment, as well as strong compliance to accessibility issues. The site is typically left to me to design and development in its entirety; from the initial analysis and research phase through implementation.
ground up
Involves working with the site owner, developing a strategy for the look and feel of the site, how it is meant to appeal/ work for the target audience.
Responsible for designing the layout, navigation, palette, and the optimization of the images for the web, as well as coordinating and coding the back-end database for any dynamic content.
remodel
Wasn't involved in the original design of the site. Time has passed and the sites innate limitations have surfaced and need to be remedied, or enhancements made, as well as the HTML being updated to current web standards.
simple splash page
The owner has the url but hasn't decided on what kind of site they have in mind. So, instead of having a 'this site is under construction' page, we create something that basically functions as an on-line business card. Meanwhile, the meta tags in the HTML help search engines and spiders find and direct web traffic to the site.
This site needed content updating, as well as cleaning up linking issues.

An online site that showcases high quality Arabian Horses for sale. The owner of this company has a design idea for most everything. She had a concept for the logo, so when I captured what she wanted there, the rest of the site unfolded.
It's a site with straighforward navigation, the focus being the gorgeous Arabians for sale. It was coded with XHTML and CSS.

This on-line presence for a professional legal recruiting company was a fantastic project.
Designing a dynamic site that ultimately benefits people definitely felt great to create. The site was put together using web standards (XHTML Strict 1.0 & CSS) and Coldfusion. I also had the privilege of creating the logo. That was a fun challenge and it's always a great feeling when you design something that captures the quality or essence of what your client wants. It felt like a homerun!

An on-line portfolio for Bay Area glass artist Reed Slater. Reed had a vision for this site, so with his creative input, the look and feel of this site took off. It was developed using XHTML, ColdFusion and CSS.

Redesigned this site for a Bay Area filmmaker. She already had great graphics, but needed her navigation restructured, and a new look and feel created.
